The Purpose of Life
|
" Why Am I here?" or "Why Am I Alive?" The questions I’ve occasionally asked especialy when I am alone and if I have problems. Have you ever asked yourself that question also? George Cameron thinks about those questions every night. Cameron asks that question because he is alive today due to the kidney donation of Clay Jones, a high school football player in Texas who died when struck by lightning. Cameron doesn't know the answer to that question other than to say that it means that God must have some purpose for his still being alive. Cameron said a lot of his life was spent in what he called careless living. "I gambled, I drank to excess, I didn't take care of myself." But knowing that he carries the kidney of such a blameless young man has affected him greatly. He now works harder at being patient and loving and respectful of life and other people.
What about you? What is your mission or what is our mission? God has given us a purpose. That purpose isn't created to serve us--we are created to serve that purpose. The greatest decision we can make is to decide "I am going to be a slave to the purpose God has for my life."
We need to get past the idea that we deserve--or need--an easy life. Instead, our attitude must be "I am not an important person, but I have an important job to do--and I will serve my purpose." That should be the attitude of all of us! "Whatever time we have left should be for Him!" We are here to serve the King! That is our purpose in life.

The Meaning of Life
|
The only way to deal with this question therapeutically rather than philosophically is to the qualify the question to either "What is the meaning of my life? or "What is the meaning of life for me?" By personalizing the question, we have changed it significantly from something abstract and out of our control to something more concrete and manageable for ourselves. Each of us now has a choice about what we consider important and how we prioritize the essentials of our own life. The meaning of life, because of its subjective nature, must be found within each person. The answer cannot be found in the externals. It cannot be found in another person. Unfortunately, it cannot be handed to us, either in book or therapy. The best that another person can do is to function as a guide, to point out new directions and perhaps provide some new materials which may lead to insight. Others may help us learn new perspectives and present choices that we may not have thought of by ourselves. The answer to discovering the meaning of your life lies in the exploration of yourself. You give meaning to your life.
The unexplored life is not life; at best, it is only part of a life. This exploration of yourself--your life--well may be your life's work. It is difficult, painful, and requires great courage. In order to explore who you are and what your life is about, you must be willing to aquire objective "eyes" to really see yourself. This means that you must let go of the myths, illusions, and expectations that have accompained you and helped you avoid the pain of living. You must be willing to "ride the pain" and drop your defenses. This is hard work, and like most explorations, involves commitment, encouragement, and energy. Along the way you will learn the art of living. First towards yourself and, later, towards others. The result of this exploration of yourself and your life is that you will learn the art of being whole, of being balanced. All aspects of you--mental, emotional, spiritual, and interactive--are in harmony and work together. You become more at peace with yourself and with your world. In the process of exploring your life, it helps to begin by looking for the meanings of life in the small, everyday acts of courage that are always present. Recognizing that life is lived in the moment, the here and now, and not in the past or future helps. It takes time and courage to stop "time jumping" from the past to future and to stay focused in the present. The meaning of life is found in understanding of the concepts of paradox, practice, and humor. Life is paradoxical, on all levels, and is the answer into securing life.
This life is the rehersal for what is to follow. And rehersals are process which allows making mistakes in order to learn. If you are lucky and have good direction, you will receive encouragement while you ar learning. The rehearsing--the process-- become our performance. Living means practicing just as life means process. The third concept, humor, provides the bridge that allows us to live with the contradictions of life and death, sanity and insanity, good and evil. By using humor, by laughing at ourselves and with others, we can learn that life is not that serious, not that important, and not unbearable. Try this and you will begin to learn to be your "authentic self". This allows us the become the "Essence of our Imperfection".

Success in Life
|
EVERYBODY wants it, ANYONE can have it, VERY FEW get it.
Success is continued expansion of happiness.
Success is the ability to fulfill your desires with effortless ease.
Success is material abundance (wealth), good health, energy and enthusiasm for life, a fulfilling relationship, emotional stability, sense of well being and peace of mind.
Success is a journey, not a destinationm
It is only about achieving what you want to achieve and being happy. That is what success is. If this is so, why are our newspapers and television shows dedicated to showing us ‘celebrities’? Dedicated to asking us to believe that the correct role model is one who is wealthy and in the public eye? In believing all the hype in the newspapers and the internet that success and money go hand in hand are you in danger of making the same mistake? Achieving wealth but not feeling successful. In our experience the search for success has to start inside. Ask yourself; What is success for me? How do I define success? What do my deep down dreams say success is for me? What do I have to achieve to make myself feel radiant and ecstatic at having achieved? Now ask yourself; ‘What do I need to do to achieve this’? ‘What am I going to do to achieve this’? Now you have every chance of being successful. Every chance of achieving what you were sent on the planet to achieve. In our experience, when you follow a dream that has been prescribed for you. You may achieve success but you will always have that doubt in your mind that something is missing. And you are right. What is missing is that you haven’t achieved your dream. You have achieved a dream thrust upon you. A dream you thought was correct. You have achieved an ought, should, must dream. In a nutshell you have successfully achieved someone else’s dream for you. When you are working towards your dream you are fulfilling your need to be successful. And it shows. It shows on your face. It shows in your actions. It shows in your speech. It shows in your energy levels. Without any doubt at all you know when you are fulfilling your need to be successful. As Bob Dylan said, "What’s true success? When you wake up in the morning, go to bed at night and in between you did what you wanted to".
Success is a personal thing. To many people it is the very core of their being. The reason for existing is to achieve something worthwhile. To the vast majority of people it doesn't matter much whether they are successful or not. That's okay as long as that is what makes one content in life. However, most people want and are motivated to a great extent by public recognition and a relentless pursuit of achievement lives?
No matter what motivates you personally or whatever you choose to do with your life, don't expect instant success. The years of struggle, commitment and learning in whatever endeavor or trade you choose, is no easy task. It takes a lot of courage, character and discipline to achieve success in any field. Nearly all successful people have doubted themselves at some point and wanted to give up. So many people give up within sight of their goal. One thing is for sure-- success breeds success as it gathers momentum on its own and everything seems to fall into place.
Most of all, I believe success is a matter of personal growth. If every day you are developing or growing just a millimeter, or acquiring a "teeny weenie" amount of knowledge that you didn't have before, you are successful. Just being a slightly better person each day for me is success. I've got a very long way to go!! "To live your life in your own way, to reach the goals you've set for yourself, to be the person you want to be - that is success."
